What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The following sections outline the way in which information is collected, and the reasons.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Contact forms
The information you submit to us through our contact form is used so that we can reply to your inquiry. It is not shared with third parties. It may also be used to contact you about product upgrades or new service offerings. Consistent with Australian law, you are able to opt out of receiving further communications at any time.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically, instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, compliance or security purposes.
Where we send your data
With the exception of visitor comments which may be checked through an automated spam detection service, your data is not sent to third parties, except in the following cases:
i) where you request an insurance quote, we may send your details, including any proposal forms submitted, to our underwriters or their designated agents in order for the determination of acceptance an any applicable premium.
ii) where a submission of your data occurs in pursuit of a quote for a service which we indirectly offer, your contact data may be sent to our partner/s so that a costing can be obtained or a program recommended.
Your contact information
If your contact information is collected as a result of an inquiry by you to us, or as part of a dealing with us administered through this site, it shall be retained for only as long as we consider it necessary having regard to the nature of our interaction and the necessity for any follow up communication. At any time, you may request us to show you what information we hold concerning you, and request it’s deletion. We never hold your financial information, such as credit card details in our online databases. Such information, if collected at all, is destroyed immediately after the relevant processing of payment information necessary to complete the transaction.
